MIAS 2026: BYD previews Sealion 7, ATTO 2 EVs
Besides having the largest booth at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), BYD Cars Philippines previewed two future additions to its battery-electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
These include the Sealion 7 compact crossover and the ATTO 2 subcompact crossover – both will join existing full EV models like the Seagull, Dolphin, ATTO 3, eMAX 7, Seal and Tang. The New-Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer said the upcoming cars can be reserved at MIAS or at any BYD Cars Philippines dealership for just P50,000 starting April 9, 2026.
“Our participation in the Manila International Auto Show is the ultimate display of BYD’s relentless innovation,” said BYD Cars Philippines managing director Bob Palanca in a press statement.
“With the showcase of the full NEV line up, we are proving that there is a BYD for every Filipino,” he added. “We are going beyond just selling cars, we are leading the movement that transforms how the country moves.”
Beware Model Y?
Although final Philippine specifications have not yet been officially announced, the BYD Sealion 7 directly takes on EV crossovers like the Tesla Model Y.

BYD Cars Philippines said it will come with all-wheel drive (AWD), along with a “tech-forward cabin and the latest suite of driver-assistance systems.” In other markets, the Sealion 7 Performance AWD is powered by an 82.3-kWh battery pack mated to dual electric motors for a combined output of 523 horsepower and 690 Newton-meters of torque.
Other features available in other markets include a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, quilted Nappa leather upholstery, 128-color ambient lighting, a panoramic moonroof with sunshade, a 12-speaker Dynaudio surround-sound system, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a heads-up display and a 50W wireless smartphone charger.
The BYD’s claimed maximum WLTP range is 456 kilometers, while 0 to 100 km/h is possible in just 4.5 seconds. The Sealion 7 is also capable of 230-kW DC rapid charging that can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes.
For comparison, the Philippine-spec Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive has an 81-kWh battery pack and dual electric motors for a combined output of 425 horsepower and 510 Newton-meters of torque – claimed 0 to 100 km/h time is just 4.3 seconds, while the claimed maximum WLTP range of 533 kilometers.

With the equivalent Model Y priced at P2,749,000, the upcoming Sealion 7 is expected to cost substantially less than its American rival.
Yaris Cross challenger?
Meanwhile, the BYD ATTO 2 will slot under the ATTO 3 and is expect to take on subcompact crossovers like the electrified Toyota Yaris Cross HEV.
It is available in other markets in two variants, both with a front-mounted electric motor – the Standard Range has a 51.1-kWh battery pack for 174 horsepower and 290 Newton-meters of torque, along with a claimed maximum WLTP range of 344 kilometers. Meanwhile, the Long Range has a 64-kWh battery pack for 201 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque, plus a 420-kilometer maximum WLTP range.
For comparison, the Yaris Cross HEV has a 1.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine mated to a 0.7-kWh battery pack and an electric motor for a combined output of 109 horsepower. Prices for the upcoming ATTO 2 are expected to heavily undercut the Toyota’s P1,690,000 pricetag.
