Gospel: April 24, 2026
April 25, 2026 (Saturday)
Feast of St. Mark, Evangelist
Psalter: Proper (Red)
Ps 89:2-3, 6-7, 16-17
Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
1st Reading: 1 Peter 5:5b-14
Gospel: Mark 16:15-20
Then he told them, “Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; the one who refuses to believe will be condemned. Signs like these will accompany those who have believed: in my name they will cast out demons and speak new languages; they will pick up snakes, and if they drink anything poisonous, they will be unharmed; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” So then, after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and took his place at the right hand of God. The Eleven went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.
Reflection:
Proclaim the Gospel.
The Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist honors a devoted servant of Christ who played a crucial role in spreading the Gospel. Mark, believed to have been inspired by St. Peter’s teachings, authored a Gospel that conveys the urgency and transformative power of Jesus’ message.
We hear Jesus’ command to his disciples: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation.” This emphasizes the universal call to evangelization and the promise of divine support as we undertake this mission.
St. Mark’s life and Gospel challenge us to embrace our roles as messengers of Christ’s love. The call to “proclaim the Gospel” is not limited to words; it extends to lives lived in service, compassion, and integrity. Like St. Mark, we are invited to grow in faith and courage despite our shortcomings and doubts. We are reminded that God’s grace equips us for the mission, empowering us to inspire hope and faith in a world hungry for the Good News.
