No rotational power outages in off-grid areas

Lisbet K. Esmael

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said on Wednesday that there are no rotational brownouts being implemented in off-grid areas because of the oil crisis triggered by the Middle East war.

According to the Department of Energy chief, state-run Philippine National Oil Co. has been directed to prioritize off-grid generation companies in the allocation of diesel supplies at discounted prices.

“[The directive is to] provide them with preferential rates and terms to maintain adequate supply and prevent increases in electricity prices,” Garin said.
