“D” Day

Ronald Rey M. delos Reyes

“It represents innovation, progress and the future of mobility.”

This is what Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos said when she recently welcomed Deepal Philippines to her city during the official opening of their flagship dealership along Shaw Boulevard.

“Deepal brings with it a bold vision of smart, sustainable and world-class transportation that responds to the evolving needs of the modern Filipino consumer,” she added.

Moreover, Abalos continued by saying that in a rapidly changing world, mobility continues to redefine how we live, move and connect.

“Deepal stands at the forefront of this transformation by introducing advanced mobility solutions.”

The flagship dealership marks a major milestone in the brand’s continued expansion and a significant step forward in the Philippine’s transition toward new energy and intelligent mobility.

This new Deepal Shaw dealership spans approximately 1,562 square meters, featuring four showroom cars and 10 service bays, designed as a full-service hub that integrates both sales and aftersales support to deliver complete ownership experience.

Along with Mayor Abalos during the launch to welcome the flagship dealership were Mandaluyong Vice Mayor Antonio Suva Jr., Deepal and Autohub Group executives, together with automotive and financial partners, media and the brand’s first customers who were also officially presented during the ceremony.

Both milestone and celebration

Deepal exclusive local distributor Autohub Group was elated with opening as the ceremony was both a milestone and a celebration of the group’s 27-year journey in the automotive industry.

“This is more than a showroom launch, it is the start of a new era in mobility,” Autohub Group president Willy Tee Ten said. “We have been serving our customers with passion, integrity and innovation that inspires.”

He further emphasized Deepal’s REEV technology as a breakthrough that brings together efficiency, performance, and real-world practicality for Filipino drivers.

Meanwhile, executives from Changan Automobile, led by Leslie Wu, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to the country and Deepal’s role in shaping the future of mobility in the region.

“The Philippines is an important market for Changan and Deepal. Through our partnership with Autohub Group, we are committed to bringing advanced, intelligent, and sustainable mobility solutions closer to Filipino customers,” Wu said.

Also, highlighting the event was the ceremonial turnover of 12 Deepal units, such as the S05 and G318 REEV models to its first customers. It marked the first official deliveries in the Philippines, which will be followed by 56 more units scheduled for release in the coming days.

This likewise shows a solid, enthusiastic and warm reception of the local market.

REEV by the numbers

Tee Ten, with his vigor to introduce REEV into the local market, also underscored the benefits of the technology to the Filipino’s daily rigors during a presentation.

He highlighted the growing benefits of electrified mobility, particularly in terms of long-term ownership savings through reduced fuel dependency, lower operating costs, and improved efficiency compared to traditional vehicles.

He noted that strong support from banking and insurance partners will further help make new energy vehicles more accessible to a wider market.

For example, he noted that an REEV, compared to other electrified vehicles

operates strictly as an electric vehicle, with the electric motor as the only component that drives the wheels.

Here, the gasoline engine acts purely as an onboard generator to produce electricity for the battery and does not physically connect to the drivetrain. This is best for drivers who want a smooth, instant-torque, 100 percent EV driving experience but are intimidated by public charging networks and want the safety net of a gas tank.

“Compared to a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, you get to save about 60 percent with an REEV,” he said.

“And if you religiously charge once every three days, you save 65 percent.”

He also said that for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), which Deepal also offers, one gets 70-percent of savings in his monthly energy consumption.

“But if you still worry about range anxiety, REEV is really the best option.”

To cap off, this official Deepal opening of its flagship dealership in the country is more than just a simple ceremony.

And by the words of Tee Ten, himself, he said during his opening remarks: “As the showroom opens its doors, Deepal marks not just an expansion—but a celebration of partnership, innovation, and the beginning of a new chapter in Philippine mobility.”
