One weekend, plenty of ways to get away
Where can one staycation take you? At Newport World Resorts, it’s a lot farther than you think.
One weekend here can move you through moods, flavors, cultures, places, and experiences with surprising ease: from the understated elegance of Japanese spaces, a sumptuous Filipino-Spanish dinner, a well-poured whisky that hints at Scotland to a lavish Chinese feast and a Gordon Ramsay lunch that brings a touch of London to the table.
Set within the 25-ha Newport City township just across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Newport World Resorts is one of Metro Manila’s most vibrant integrated urban escapes. It brings together international hotels, more than 70 dining outlets, shops, cinemas, a performing arts theater, gaming facilities, offices, and residences in a highly connected destination.
In fact, your biggest challenge is figuring out how to cram everything into one weekend. To get you started, Inquirer Property has mapped out a simple itinerary for you.

Day 1: A strong start
Check in at Hotel Okura Manila, one of the five international hotel brands within the complex.
Together with Manila Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila, and Holiday Inn Express Manila, Hotel Okura forms part of Newport World Resorts’ hospitality portfolio, which offers a combined 2,241 hotel keys—the highest number in a single property in the Philippines.
Hotel Okura, however, stands out for its understated elegance, shaped by Japanese omotenashi and softened by Filipino warmth. It was an ideal home base for the next three days, setting the tone for what Newport does well: creating indulgent experiences without being too overwhelming.
And because the best staycations are often planned around the next good meal, Newport makes that part especially easy. Given its diverse selection, the place practically invites you to build a culinary itinerary.

Dinner was at Casa Buenas, where capiz accents, solihiya furniture, hardwood details, and Machuca tiles give the room a warm, old-world Filipino elegance. The food follows the same idea: fine Filipino cooking shaped by Asian and Spanish influences.

Drinks at The Whisky Library felt like the natural next move. This intimate lounge is home to Manila’s largest whisky collection, with more than 500 whiskies, rums, and spirits from around the world, plus signature cocktails, curated tapas, and over 30 premium cigars.

Day 2: A well-paced day
The morning began with the right kind of reset: breakfast at Yawaragi.
Set in a modern Japanese-inspired village at Hotel Okura Manila, Yawaragi brings together Japanese specialties, international dishes, and Filipino favorites. The spread can move from soba and seasonal Japanese ingredients to familiar breakfast staples, which means you can start the day as light, hearty, or disciplined as your weekend mood allows.

Tip: Keep breakfast light if you’re heading to CRU Steakhouse for lunch. Located at Manila Marriott Hotel, CRU is Newport’s award-winning steakhouse, known for well-seasoned steaks, fresh salads, modern interiors, and an open-themed kitchen that gives the meal a little theater.
To walk off lunch, head to Newport Mall for some window shopping or the classic “just browsing” that somehow ends with a paper bag. For musicals, concerts, and live performances, check Newport World Resorts’ event calendar before your stay.
That is the ease of staying here. Everything can happen without traffic and transfers. But if you want to make the most of your hotel stay, in-room dining for dinner is always a good idea.
Day 3: A Gordon Ramsay finale
The final day wrapped up with a hearty lunch at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Philippines, the first restaurant in the country from one of the world’s most recognizable culinary names.

It was a fitting finale to a three-day staycation that was building toward one last proper meal. Burgers, fish and chips, and a table full of comfort food with a British accent gave this stay one last satisfying flourish.
Indeed, getaways need not end when summer does. At Newport World Resorts, the staycation is always in season and thankfully, with crisp hotel sheets, dinner plans, proper nightcaps, easy entertainment, and no long drive home.
