NBI prepares trafficking case vs Defensor
National Bureau of Investigation Director Melvin Matibag told reporters on Wednesday that a human trafficking complaint against former Quezon City Rep. Mike Defensor will be filed on Friday for his alleged involvement in the operations of the Chicago KTV bar and Bleu Hotel in Pasig City.
The establishments were raided on April 21, leading to the rescue of 54 women reportedly working as “customer care assistants” and being sexually exploited for a P15,000 fee.
Defensor had denied the allegation which he described as “politically motivated.”
Also to be charged before the Pasig Prosecutor’s Office is Wack Wack Golf and Country Club president Lawrence Tan, but for solicitation after he was caught inside the KTV bar during the raid.
The NBI previously charged Defensor’s wife, Julie Rose, and their son, Miguel Gabriel, after corporate records showed they were officials of the firm running the establishments.
