If the government truly wants to ensure that there is always electricity available, incentives should be offered to people or companies that install energy-efficient equipment in their homes and offices. It is a mutually beneficial solution to the unexpected spike in usage on a hot summer day.

Economics dictates most of the actions even of primitive man such that current fad on the original of law is economics. If the price of brown rice is much lower than white rice, people will shift to brown rice especially with its additional nutritional benefits. Remove or lower the import tariff for brown rice and increase it for well milled rice. We have one of the highest electricity charges in Asia. Why are we not adapting energy efficient systems? Is it the lack of knowledge? High cost of shifting vs the cost wasting expensive energy? Certainly large industries and consumers of electricity have access to information, financing, technology, and expertise to adapt energy efficient alternatives? Why are they not doing it?
