BCDA starts New Clark City housing project

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has broken ground for an affordable housing project in Capas, Tarlac.

In a statement on Thursday, the BCDA said the undertaking, called the New Clark City Affordable Housing Project, will start construction by late 2025.

The project will initially deliver 840 housing units, with the first units expected for turnover within two years.

It forms part of a broader 5.84-hectare community that will offer more than 3,400 residential units. These include mid-rise buildings for affordable housing.

The project features green parks, community spaces, sports and recreation facilities and retail zones. Residents will be able to access adjacent national institutions and job hubs in the future.

It also has modern utilities, stormwater drainage systems, fire protection infrastructure and open green spaces.

“Notably, the community will also serve as a potential housing site for uniformed personnel, allowing them to live closer to their place of duty,” the BCDA said.

The project is situated in New Clark City, which hosts P74.53 billion in pledged investments from locators. Local hires from Capas and nearby towns will be prioritized during its construction and operations.

The BCDA is implementing the project in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and the consortium of Sta. Clara International Corp. and South Korea-based Saekyung Unitless Co.
