BIZ BUZZ: Bridgetowne rides pickleball trend

If you haven’t tried pickleball—or at least been curious enough about it to research—you wouldn’t know that nearly everyone around you has probably tried it.

The sudden rise in popularity of this once-niche pastime has resulted in a lot of pickleball courts sprouting everywhere around us—even in malls.

This is precisely why developers like Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) are trying to take advantage of the growing interest in this sport.

RLC inked a partnership with Kosmas Athletic Ventures Corp. to break ground on the Helios Pickleball Center, Asia’s first tournament-grade pickleball facility.

This also marks the debut of Robinsons Sports, Entertainment and Recreation, its newly established unit.

“With the launch of Robinsons Sports, Entertainment and Recreation, we are expanding into new spaces that complement Robinsons Land’s recognized strengths,” RLC president and CEO Mybelle Aragon-GoBio said.

Rising near the iconic The Victor statue in Bridgetowne Destination Estate, Helios, which will rake in an investment amount of up to P1 billion, is seen to be the training ground for the country’s next pickleball stars and hone them to be competitive globally.

The eight-story Helios is big enough to host tournaments, by 2028, so maybe it’s time to start training to make it to the Philippine team!
