BIZ BUZZ: Century Pacific lands among Asia-Pacific’s best

The company behind a Filipino pantry staple has emerged as one of Asia-Pacific’s leading brands in 2025.

US-based consumer data company Worldpanel by Numerator named Century Pacific Food Inc. the only Philippine brand in its “Made Local, Played Global” report, placing the food maker alongside some of the region’s biggest consumer names.

Best known for its Century Tuna line, the company, founded in 1978 by Ricardo Po Sr., has grown into one of the Philippines’ largest canned food manufacturers. In the first nine months of 2025, it posted a net income of P5.8 billion.

Worldpanel described Century Pacific as one of the country’s “most forward-looking enterprises,” citing its transformation over the years through diversification into new categories and a long-term approach to value creation.

The report also highlighted the company’s international footprint, with exports reaching 60 countries across North America, the Middle East, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

That placed Century Pacific in the company of China’s Eastroc Beverage, Goodfarmer, Hengan, Nice Group and Yunnan Baiyao; South Korea’s Able C&C, Korea Ginseng Corp. and Nongshim; Taiwan’s Standard Food; Thailand’s I.P. One/Hygiene and TCP/Red Bull; Vietnam’s Vinasoy and Vinamilk; Indonesia’s Mayora; and India’s Parle.

Beyond the individual brands, Worldpanel said Asia-Pacific was taking a bigger slice of the global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market. The region now accounts for 79 percent of the global FMCG market, up from 74 percent a decade ago.

For Century Pacific, the recognition is more than just another feather in its cap. It is proof that a homegrown pantry name can earn its rightful place on the wider regional table.
