BIZ BUZZ: Veteran banker joins Maharlika

Looks like the Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) is beefing up its bench.
Veteran investment banker and TV talk show host Stephen CuUnjieng has been tapped to join the board of the country’s sovereign wealth fund manager.
MIC president and CEO Rafael Consing Jr. confirmed the development to Biz Buzz after the news first surfaced on InsiderPH.
CuUnjieng, of course, is no stranger to the big leagues.
He’s advised top firms and steered major initial public offerings, equity and debt offerings, and advisory deals not just in the Philippines but also across the Asia-Pacific.
Beyond that, he hosted a weekly talk series called “Banker After Dark” on ANC.
He’s got the academic chops, too, with an MBA in Finance from Wharton.
“The stewardship of the Maharlika Investment Fund is a profound national responsibility. Stevie’s appointment to the board underscores our unwavering commitment to meeting that duty with the highest standards of governance,” Consing said.
“He brings a caliber of insight from global capital markets that is essential for navigating the path ahead,” he added.
There are still two regular board seats left to fill at the MIC. Watch this space.
