BIZ BUZZ: Biz bigwigs back Benilde

When the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde broke ground on its newest campus at Aseana City, Parañaque, in November 2025, it drew some of the Philippines’ biggest names in the business world.

Among the speakers was Cezar Consing, president of Ayala Corp., who was there as chair of Benilde’s Board of Trustees.

Also in attendance were Mariano Martinez, chair of low-cost housing firm 8990 Holdings and Carlos Rufino, president of green buildings developer NEO and chair of the Threadborne Group.

The new campus itself carries a prominent name: Delfin J. Wenceslao Jr. Campus, after the real estate tycoon and former president and chair of the board of D.M. Wenceslao & Associates Inc.

Fittingly, the company is behind the 204-hectare Aseana City development.

This new campus will house Benilde’s School of Environment and Design, the School of Management and Information Technology – Analytics, Computing, and Infotech Cluster, as well as selected classes under the School of Multidisciplinary Studies.

In the words of Consing, the campus will be “built with students at the very center of the overall design,” aligning with Benilde’s mission to help its students “make a positive difference to people and the world.”
