BIZ BUZZ: De Vera moves to Eastwest

Veteran banker Ramon Vicente de Vera II has made his next big move in the banking industry just two years after his last.

On Thursday, EastWest Banking Corp. informed the exchange its board of directors had approved the appointment of De Vera as senior vice president and chief business development officer effective Oct. 16.

This, just two years after his entry into BDO Unibank Inc., where he led the Sy family-led bank’s digital transformation initiatives, including branch modernization; micro, small and medium enterprise lending; and generative artificial intelligence integration.

Before that, he led multiple business units for nearly 12 years at Aboitiz-led Union Bank of the Philippines, where he also eventually cofounded UnionDigital Bank.

De Vera, whom EastWest described as a “seasoned fintech transformation strategist” with over two decades of experience, began his career at Standard Chartered and Citibank.
