DBP grants CamSur P3.5-B loan for development projects
Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has extended a P3.5-billion loan to the Camarines Sur provincial government to fund priority development projects under its economic and social development financing program.
In a statement on Friday, DBP said the loan facility will fund 112 projects of the largest province in the Bicol Region.
The funding comes from the state lender’s Assistance for Economic and Social Development (Asenso) for Local Government Units (LGUs) Financing Program.
The program aims to assist at least 10 percent of the country’s LGUs in undertaking infrastructure and socioeconomic projects aligned with the Philippine Development Plan.
Camarines Sur’s projects include the construction of health-care centers, hospitals, school buildings, roads and agricultural facilities. These are expected to benefit the province’s more than 2 million residents.
Camarines Sur relies heavily on key industries such as tourism, agriculture, fishery, livestock and forestry to drive economic growth.
DBP told the Inquirer that details of the 112 projects have yet to be cleared for public disclosure.
“DBP takes pride in assisting the Camarines Sur provincial government in projects that will improve the lives of Camarinenses—from strengthening infrastructure and enhancing health-care delivery to fostering education and expanding access to essential social services and livelihood opportunities,” DBP resident and CEO Michael de Jesus said.
Looking ahead, the state-run lender said it plans to extend more loans to LGUs to expand the scope and scale of its financing efforts. This is expected to help accelerate local development.
As of end-November 2025, DBP had approved more than P165 billion in loans for 451 borrowers under the Asenso for LGUs program.
