DigiPlus income surged 61% in first sem to P8.4B

Newly minted blue-chip firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp. saw its net income surge in the first six months of the year by 61 percent to P8.4 billion.
The company said in a statement on Thursday that its first-semester results reflected continued growth in its retail games segment.
New product offerings and operational efficiencies also contributed to their January-June readout.
Such readouts emerged even as DigiPlus shares endured a beating as soon as the second semester started, as news of proposed laws on tighter regulations and talks of a possible outright ban broke out in July.
“Now in the second half of the year, as the Philippine online gambling industry undergoes heightened scrutiny and legislative review, DigiPlus assumes a wider industry role in leading the fight against illegal gambling and championing a safer and more sustainable online gambling industry for the Filipino nation,” the company said.
Last week, DigiPlus joined 18 other founding organizations of the Interim Council of the PlaySafe Alliance of the Philippines, which they formally signed into agreement.
“This alliance is not about competition—it’s about collaboration,” said DigiPlus chair Eusebio Tanco.
DigiPlus is thus making good on its word to not only be a stickler for compliance but also be proactive about responsible gaming.
“By working as one, we can ensure that online gambling in the Philippines becomes more secure, transparent and beneficial to both players and the nation,” Tanco said.
He said that as DigiPlus continued to innovate and grow, it remained committed to responsible business practices and meaningful community engagement.
“In a currently evolving regulatory landscape, DigiPlus believes that collaboration and transparency are essential to fostering a safer, more sustainable industry that benefits players, stakeholders and the broader Filipino community,” Tanco added.
Last week, the Philippine Stock Exchange announced that DigiPlus had been included in the PSE Index, which groups the 30 largest companies listed on the bourse in terms of full market capitalization.
In the January-June semester, DigiPlus’ top line jumped 47 percent to P47.78 billion from P32.56 billion in the same period last year.
