MGEN units secure ISO certifications

Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN) has secured internationally recognized International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications across its renewable and thermal businesses, as the power generation company strengthens governance and operating standards across its growing portfolio.

In a statement on Friday, MGEN said its operations now comply with three international management system standards: ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

“These certifications show how MGEN is strengthening governance across its generation portfolio. As we grow both our renewable and thermal businesses, we are making sure that our assets are operated under clear, consistent and internationally recognized standards,” said MGEN president and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio.

For its renewable energy business, MGEN Renewable Energy Inc. received its first triple ISO certification from TÜV SÜD Philippines.

The certification covers the company’s head office and six solar facilities located in Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Bulacan, Isabela, Batangas and Tarlac, bringing its geographically dispersed operations under a unified management framework.

Meanwhile, MGEN Thermal Energy Inc., formerly Global Business Power Corp., renewed its ISO 9001:2015 certification, while its subsidiaries Cebu Energy Development Corp., Toledo Power Co., Panay Energy Development Corp. and Panay Power Corp. (PPC) renewed their certifications under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.

The recertifications cover the company’s baseload power plants serving key load centers in Cebu, Iloilo and nearby areas.
