Rizal firm expanding aggregates plant
Construction firm San Rafael Development Corp. (SRDC) is planning a P36.25-million quarrying and crushing plant expansion in Rizal province to help meet the strong demand for construction materials.
Located in Rodriguez town, the project is expected to provide a stable and sustainable supply of aggregates and raw materials for construction, supporting the national infrastructure program.
Aggregates are raw materials from natural sources and extracted from pits and quarries for use in construction.
SRDC, engaged in general construction and other affiliated business, said the project aimed to meet the demand for construction and building materials, particularly in the Visayas and adjacent regions.
The project intends to supply raw materials, especially cement, under the Marcos administration’s Build, Better, More (BBM) Program.
“Its objectives include contributing to local economic growth through job generation, increasing local government revenue, addressing regional demand for construction materials and enhancing community development through a strengthened SDMP (Social Development and Management Program),” the company said in a documentary submission to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB).
If approved, this will expand the coverage area to 56.03 hectares from 19.92 ha and boost production capacity to 1.2 million metric tons (MT) from 75,000 MT.
The DENR-EMB will conduct a public scoping for the quarrying and crushing plant expansion project on Feb. 19 in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Public scoping is the early stage of the environment impact assessment process.
