Singapore’s TDCX expands in PH following buyout of American BPO

Singapore-based business process outsourcing (BPO) firm TDCX is expanding its presence in the Philippines with its acquisition of American call center Open Access BPO, which has been operating here for over two decades.
The deal would allow TDCX to add delivery locations in Davao, Manila and Taipei, Taiwan—where Open Access BPO has established a footprint, according to a statement on Monday.
The two companies did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition. TDCX said the deal would allow it to meet the growing global demand for “strategic” outsourced services.
Underpinning the business move was TDCX’s bullish outlook on the BPO sector in the region. Citing figures from data provider Statista, TDCX said the global BPO market was expected to hit $491.53 billion by 2029, with BPOs in Asia poised to become a $109.92-billion industry.
“Business cycles are moving more quickly than ever. Strategic outsourcing is similarly evolving at a rapid pace,” TDCX CEO and founder Laurent Junique said.
“Companies at the forefront of leveraging strategic outsourcing see it as a critical driver for innovation, flexibility and global expansion. And our acquisition of Open Access BPO strengthens our ability to seize these opportunities,” Laurent added.
Seamless transition
To ensure a “seamless” transition for employees and clients, TDCX said both companies would continue to operate under their respective brands.
Ben Davidowitz, CEO of Open Access BPO, and He Chang, president and cofounder, will serve as advisors. The rest of the leadership team in Open Access BPO “will continue to play a key role in managing operations.”
TDCX opened its Manila office in 2014 and its Cebu office in 2019.
The company, whose offerings include customer experience solutions, sales and digital marketing services as well as content moderation, further expanded in the country in 2022 with the opening of a new office in Iloilo.
Founded in 2006, Open Access BPO launched its first call center in the Philippines in 2007. The company offers omnichannel and multilingual client experience, back-office support and content moderation solutions, among others.
