Spain, PH celebrate warm, robust ties
Spain’s National Day celebration held Oct. 10 in Fairmont Makati Hotel honored the deep historical ties between Spain and the Philippines while highlighting the strength of their contemporary relations.
Ambassador Miguel Utray reflected on the remarkable transformation of the Philippines over the past two years and recognized the vast potential for deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
This partnership was framed not only in terms of two countries’ shared history, but also in a mutual commitment to address global challenges.
The dialogue between the two nations has reached significant levels, focusing on both bilateral understanding and global issues as both countries reaffirmed their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The ambassador also shared that economic relations have also been on the rise, with plans to sign new financial instruments aimed at facilitating further collaboration.
Cultural and developmental cooperation remains central to the two countries’ relationship.
The Philippines has been identified as Spain’s priority country for cooperation in Asia, with an upcoming Country Partnership Framework aligned with Philippine development goals. Annual events like the Hispano-Filipino Forum showcase the robust partnership.
Utray expressed gratitude to the Philippine government and people for their warm reception and underscored the Embassy’s commitment to supporting Spanish citizens and businesses in the Philippines.
