Top of the electric world

VinFast Philippines recently announced that it has emerged as the top-selling battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand in the country in the first quarter of 2026.

The announcement was made by none other than Antonio Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia during the debut of their newest multipurpose vehicle offering in the local market, the VF MPV 7.

According to reports, VinFast overtook Tesla with 1,171 units sold from January to March of this year.

The brand captured over 50 percent of the local BEV market share, driven by competitive pricing, its battery subscription program, and models like the VF5, VF3, and VF6.

Antonio Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia, breaks the news that Vinfast has emerged as the top-selling battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand in the country in the first quarter of 2026.

Newest MPV offering

To continue the ball rolling, VinFast has officially launched the VF MPV 7 electric vehicle in our local shores, marking the third international market where the model has been rolled out.

The launch further strengthens VinFast’s diverse product portfolio in the country and reaffirms its commitment to making electric mobility more accessible, hence speeding up the transition toward greener transportation in the local scene.

Positioned as a versatile seven-seater electric MPV for families, the VF MPV 7 eyes customers who are seeking to upgrade from their conventional internal combustion engine-powered MPV.

Locally, the MPV segment accounts for nearly 20 percent of total automotive sales. This is particularly taking into account the Mitsubishi Xpander dethroning the compact sedan Toyota Vios last year as the topselling vehicle and bringing to an end its near-two-decade reign in the country. This obviously marked the shift of preference of the local market.

The Vietnamese carmaker avers that the VF MPV 7 specifically offers “a well-balanced solution, combining spaciousness, strong performance, and competitive ownership costs, addressing the most critical criteria for family vehicle buyers”.

Proudly measuring 4,740mm long, 1,872mm wide and 1,734 mm tall, with a 2,840-mm wheelbase, it’s an ideal conduit perfect for bringing families from point A to B. The vehicle, in particular, is developed around the “golden ratio” characteristic of MPVs, with wheels pushed toward the corners to optimize cabin space. This is combined with a modern design language, the marque’s signature V-shaped LED daytime running lights, and 19-inch alloy wheels, creating a well-balanced, trusty and burly appearance.

Inside, space and practically ultimately emerge, ensuring comfort for all occupants, including those in the third row. Cargo capacity can even reach up to 1,240 liters, providing flexibility for both daily use and long-distance travel.

This people carrier is equipped with an electric motor delivering 150 kW of power and 280 N-m of torque, paired with a 60.13 kWh battery, churning out a driving range of up to 450 km on a full charge under NEDC standards. Fast-charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in approximately 30 minutes.

More importantly, it is valuable to point out that the vehicle offers a clear advantage in monthly operating costs, as energy expenses remain stable and significantly lower than those of gasoline-powered vehicles in the same segment, helping optimize total cost of ownership over the long term.

Plus, owners benefit from free charging at V-Green stations across the country through March 2029, along with a seven-year or 160,000-km vehicle warranty and a 10-year or 200,000-km battery warranty, which is one of the best offerings out there.

Zara joins newly-appointed Vinfast Philippines CEO Rhomel Franco in presenting the Vinfast MPV 7.

The full electric MPV is priced at P1,518,000 for the battery-included version and P 1,239,000 under the battery subscription model.

The flexible battery subscription policy is tailored to real-world usage needs, with a monthly fee of P 2,700 for distances of up to 2,000 km and P 4,150 for distances exceeding 2,000 km.

Customers opting to purchase the vehicle with battery included will receive a direct discount of P 27,200.

“The launch of the VF MPV 7 in the Philippines marks another step forward in VinFast’s global expansion strategy and demonstrates our long-term commitment to this market,” Zara continued.

“With its spacious interior, strong performance, optimized operating costs, and sustainable ownership value, we believe the VF MPV 7 will serve as a comprehensive upgrade for Filipino families and set a new benchmark in the MPV segment.”

Along with Zara in introducing this newest MPV to the local market was the company’s newly-appointed president, Rommel Franco, an industry veteran known for his successful stints in Auto Nation and Autospeedygo, among many others.

The carmaker is ever committed to strengthen its comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem in the country by expanding its dealership and aftersales network, along with providing free charging, long-term warranties, flexible buying solutions and many others.
