GCash fixing system error in e-wallet
Ayala-owned GCash is working on restoring the money they lost from e-wallets, which the company attributed to a system error.
In a statement on Saturday, the company said “a few GCash users were affected due to errors in an ongoing system reconciliation process.” It did not elaborate.
But GCash assures these incidents were “isolated” and the accounts of the affected users were safe.
“We have identified and reached out to affected accounts. Wallet adjustments are ongoing,” said the e-wallet brand with 94 million users.
This was not the first time its users complained about unauthorized deductions in their balances.
Last year, the e-wallet dealt with a cybersecurity incident that resulted in some users losing money—but their account balances were restored eventually.
