Psalter: Week 1 (Red)

St. Boniface, bishop & martyr

Ps 119:157, 160, 161, 165, 166, 168

O Lord, great peace have they who love your law.

1st Reading: 2 Timothy 3:10-17

Gospel: Mark 12:35-37

As Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “The teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the Son of David. How can that be? For David, himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, declared: The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet!’ If David, himself, calls him Lord, in what way can he be his Son?” Many people came to Jesus, and listened to him gladly.

Reflection:

Let us cherish the Word of God.

In the first reading from the second letter to Timothy, Paul declares, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting mistakes, and training in Christian living.” This reminds us that Scripture is not merely a book; it is the living Word of God, given to guide, strengthen, and shape us as His children.

The Bible teaches us the truth, corrects our mistakes, and trains us in righteousness. Scripture serves as our solid foundation in a world filled with confusion, numerous voices, and shifting values. By immersing ourselves in God’s Word, we gain wisdom, grow in faith, and become equipped to face the challenges of living as Christ’s disciples. Let us cherish the Word of God, meditate on it daily, and allow it to transform our hearts so that we may faithfully live out God’s will.

We ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten and inspire us as we read the Scriptures daily to grow in the values of the “Word of God Made Flesh,” Jesus, our Lord.
