Hungary pleased with growing number of OFWs

The Hungarian government has expressed satisfaction over the quality of work being provided by the growing number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the country following its introduction of new policies that lifted restrictions on migrant workers.
The Department of Migrant Workers said on Tuesday that Migrant Workers chief Hans Leo Cacdac recently met with his counterparts in Budapest, who noted the hike in OFWs following the establishment of the Guest Worker Program early this year.
There are currently about 14,000 OFWs in the European country, up from 800 in 2022.
“We made a good decision because of the high quality of services that Filipinos provide and their proven record as law-abiding people,” Hungarian Interior Minister Sándor Pintér was quoted as saying during the visit of the Philippine delegation.
Other senior officials of the Ministry of Interior also praised the “positive contributions” of OFWs in Hungary.
