More OFWs repatriated from Saudi Arabia
A total of 99 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have been repatriated so far from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following missile attacks launched by Yemeni Houthi rebels, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa).
On Tuesday morning, 50 OFWs arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 via a Qatar Airways flight, followed by another 15 OFWs in the afternoon aboard a Gulf Air Flight as Owwa, in cooperation with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), continued efforts to assist workers affected by flight cancellations in Riyadh.
The Owwa said they would be provided with transportation, temporary accommodation and domestic flight assistance.
The DMW first repatriated 34 OFWs on Oct. 19 after a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport on Oct. 10 killed at least 12 people and injured over 300 others, including four Filipinos.
Another batch of 50 OFWs was scheduled to arrive in the country on Tuesday night aboard a Qatar flight, while 249 others are being processed for repatriation in the coming days.
