Rapper arrested for unlicensed guns, suspected drugs
Rapper Gabriel Abilla, more commonly known as Hev Abi, was arrested after the police found a unlicensed 9 mm firearm and ammunition in his apartment on Lazcano Street in Quezon City on Tuesday.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Region chief Col. John Guiagui told reporters on Thursday they applied for a search warrant against Abilla after an informant said the rapper and his companions had guns and posed a danger to the community.
Guiagui said the G3 Taurus caliber 9mm pistol found by the police, along with a magazine and 15 bullets, was not licensed.
He added that drugs were also found in the apartment and that Abilla tested positive for “shabu” (crystal meth) and marijuana.
Six of his companions, who were also arrested, were found positive for marijuana.
Abilla’s management, Urban Department, denied the police’s claims, saying they were working with legal authorities to find a solution.
