Talk of the Town: Celebrating a new Cardinal

We never forget how Bp Ambo David ate death threats for his fearless words against the futile drug war that snuffed-out about 30,000 human lives but never stopped the drug lords and suppliers. Duterte on December 5, 2018 said that bishops should be “killed” for supposedly doing nothing but criticize his administration. Duterte later had to backtrack over a senseless slip of his tongue on what he really was doing. The cardinal is no promotion in rank but additional responsibilities to help the Bishop of Rome manage the Universal Church and later to elect his successor or be elected to replace him on the See or Chair of Peter. It is quite ironic that as the rotten decay of EJK is being uncovered these days, the Pope gives the honorific title ‘Cardinal’ to Ambo, who by virtue of his Prophetic Role as a Bishop, bravely stood up FOR the value of Human Life and AGAINST the president who personified its killing. Bp Ambo remarked “Witnessing to the Gospel, witnessing to the truth, is something that can cost you your life. That’s part of the hazards. When these things come, the Lord will probably say, ‘I beg your pardon. I didn’t promise you a rose garden.’” Ambo is indeed a proven Pastor Bonus (i.e. Good Shepherd). Dacal pung salamat Ginu keng regalu ning bayung Cardinal keng Ambo David! Sinabing Jesus karela: “Aku ing mayap a pastul. Makasadia yang mate ing mayap a pastul para karing tupa na.” (I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives his life for his sheep)-Jn 10.11.
