President Marcos has created an advisory body to craft and implement a road map for the continued growth and competitiveness of the semiconductor and electronics industry.

He created the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry (SEI) Advisory Council in Administrative Order No. 31, dated March 28, which was released to Malacañang reporters on Thursday night.

“It is essential to develop a strategic road map that defines the national government’s objectives, strengthens the country’s global competitiveness, and ensures effective implementation of policies through a whole-of-government approach,” Mr. Marcos said.

Strategic framework

The President pointed out with a five-percent share in the global semiconductor and electronics market, the country has a “vital position in the global semiconductors and electronics packaging value chain.”

AO 31 tasked the SEI Advisory Council to provide “strategic guidance and industry insights” for the effective implementation of the PSEI Road map.

The advisory group will be headed by the special assistant to the President for investment and economic affairs, Frederick Go, and with the trade secretary as vice chairperson.
