Lacson cites new emerging threat to Sotto leadership
Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson has likened alleged threats to the leadership of Senate President Vicente Sotto III to rebellion, calling it “a continuing crime since time immemorial.” Lacson took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to address another supposed threat that he admitted was based on rumors.
“An emerging threat to the Senate leadership? Let’s put it this way—like rebellion, the threat against the Senate presidency is a ‘continuing crime’ since time immemorial,” he said.
Asked where he got the information, he replied in a Viber message: “The rumor mill where all Senate coups start anyways.”
Reached for comment, Sotto said: “Nothing new. I serve at the pleasure of my colleagues.” Ouster threats have been hounding Sotto since he took over the Senate presidency from Sen. Francis Escudero, who was replaced after being linked to anomalous flood control projects.
