Aboitiz powers Frabelle cold storage in Navotas
Aboitiz Power Corp. has bagged a deal to energize two facilities of Frabelle Cold Storage Corp., owned by the family of Agriculture chief Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
In a statement Tuesday, the group said its retail electricity arm AdventEnergy had consolidated the power demand of two cold storage facilities in Navotas, delivering 746 kilowatts.
The agreement was entered under the government’s retail aggregation program (RAP), which allows consumers or enterprises with multiple facilities sharing a common area to pool their demand to hit the 500-kilowatt threshold.
The RAP is expected to accommodate more customers as regulators approved the reduction of the threshold to 100 kW per month, starting June this year.
“Retail aggregation provides critical industries, like food storage, with reliable and dependable power that can help safeguard food quality,” said Gina Camacho-David, AdventEnergy vice president for retail operations and portfolio management.
“This partnership comes at a very important time, as securing a more stable and predictable supply is essential for our operations, and today’s agreement is a meaningful step toward that goal,” added Wilfredo Salazar, president of Frabelle Cold Chain.
Frabelle cold chain company is focused on providing full-service facilities located near major ports and highways, complementing the group’s investments in deep-sea fishing, aquaculture, canning, food manufacturing and trading, as well as shipyard operations, among others.
