BIZ BUZZ: Silver lining, in gold
When luck runs thin, a little gold goes a long way for the market-battered online gambling giant DigiPlus.
The maker of gambling sites BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone bagged a Golden Arrow Award for the second consecutive year for its “outstanding performance in corporate governance,” based on the 2025 Asean Corporate Governance Scorecard assessment results.
DigiPlus president Ping Chen said the award reflects the progress the company has made in strengthening its corporate governance practices.
Recently, the company also launched its “Entertainment for Good” framework, which it said will guide DigiPlus’ future growth with “safe and responsible” gaming in mind.
The erstwhile stock market favorite has lately been dealt one bad hand after another.
Thus, from a peak of more than P65 per share in June 2025, DigiPlus shares have since slumped to around P6 apiece, wiping out much of the market enthusiasm that once surrounded the online gambling giant. For a company that has made a fortune out of people taking chances, DigiPlus lately found itself with rather few winning cards.
While the online gambling giant’s latest Golden Arrow Award may do little to turn things around, it is still a welcome feather in its cap as it seeks to become the market’s darling anew.
