Megaworld to start work on P12-B Batangas township

Megaworld Corp. is set to begin land development for its P12-billion San Benito Private Estate in Lipa City, Batangas. This marks the property giant’s push into wellness-focused communities.

In a disclosure on Wednesday, the Andrew Tan-led firm said construction of roads and key infrastructure will start in the coming months. This covers the initial phase of the 25-hectare (ha) integrated active wellness township.

San Benito Private Estate is being developed in partnership with CG Hospitality, the hospitality arm of CG Corp. Global. The latter owns The Farm at San Benito, a globally recognized wellness resort.

The project will feature private villas, residential lots, commercial developments and curated leisure and wellness amenities designed to promote holistic living.

Located near Lipa City proper, the township will include sports and leisure hubs, an active adult center and expansive green and wellness parks with nature trails and mountain views.

Megaworld said about half of the estate will be dedicated to open spaces such as natural parks, forest reserves and preserved terrain. This is aligned with the project’s design philosophy of integrating developments with nature.

A key feature of the project is exclusive access for residents to The Farm at San Benito. It is a 52-ha medical wellness resort operated under Marriott International’s Autograph Collection brand.

The resort is known for its comprehensive health programs and has been recognized as one of the world’s top medical wellness destinations.

Megaworld said the development reflects growing demand for wellness tourism and lifestyle communities in the Philippines.

“We are developing this wellness community to celebrate and honor the natural beauty of Batangas, and at the same time provide our future residents and guests with direct, seamless access to the country’s most celebrated wellness sanctuary, The Farm,” said Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group Inc.

Megaworld president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso added that the company is embedding sustainability, wellness and longevity into its new developments as part of its long-term strategy.

The San Benito project also forms part of Megaworld’s broader expansion outside Metro Manila.

The company has earmarked P65 billion in capital spending this year to rev up township developments nationwide.

CG Hospitality, for its part, is looking at replicating the concept globally. It has plans to expand into 15 to 20 destinations over the next five years.
