PAL builds up flights from Cebu hub

Beachgoers will have more flight options as Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to ramp up its route network linking Cebu to popular island destinations this month in time for the summer.
In a statement on Thursday, the flag carrier said it would increase flight frequencies in its Cebu hub by 10 percent to 287 weekly round trip domestic flights.
The Lucio Tan-led airline, in addition, will boost seat capacity by deploying larger craft on certain routes.
The company said it would increase flights to Caticlan from 14 to 21 a week while Cebu-Siargao flights will ramp up to 26 per week from 18.
Flights to Puerto Princesa will double to 14 a week while Cebu-Coron flights will increase from 14 to 17 per week.
Cebu-Tacloban routes will be available 14 times a week while Cebu-Davao flights will go up to 29 flights weekly.
“We invite travelers to make the most of the peak summer season by flying to these exciting destinations from Mactan-Cebu, our growing hub in the Central Philippines,” PAL Express president Rabbi Vincent Ang said.
“These additional flights and greater seat capacity reflect our flag carrier’s commitment to increase connectivity, to boost the economy, and help drive tourism across our inter-island network from Cebu,” he added.
Apart from these island destinations, PAL also operates 11 daily flights from Cebu to Manila.
Overseas, PAL links Cebu to Osaka, Tokyo and Seoul. It will launch flights to Ho Chi Minh next month.
Before åthis expansion, the airline said that it would also start operating daily flights from Clark to Siargao and Basco by May 1.
This would be an increase from the current thrice weekly flights for Clark-Siargo route and four times a week for Clark-Basco route.
Last March 1, PAL began its daily services between Clark and Busuanga. It also increased its Manila-Hanoi flights to daily service from the previous five times weekly on April 1.
