Art gallery meets coffee meets third space at this Kapitolyo cafe

Cheesecakes, chai, and matcha, you name it, not much separates your homey neighborhood spot from a so-called artisanal brand. But if there’s something we’ve observed from the hundreds of cafes we’ve been to, a delectable selection of pastries and drinks matters just as much as having a unique location.

Cafes, after all, aren’t the same as restaurants—they’re third spaces where visitors can study, work, unwind, and connect with other like-minded people.

Inside Arts and Beans

But at Arts and Beans, this Kapitolyo cafe takes it a step further. You can enjoy your favorite sips and bites as you would in any other cafe, but with a view you would only ever get inside an art gallery in sight.

Pastries, specially crafted drinks, and more

Arts and Beans may just be the perfect spot for your first date. Hit two birds with one stone with a relaxing gallery visit to start things off, and follow it up with a few bites and drinks where you won’t run out of conversation topics—whether it’s about the intriguing art piece you just saw, or your date’s favorite drink on the menu.

And in the case you do, the cafe also has a selection of board games and books to bridge any conversational gaps. It’s a wingman in cafe/gallery form.

“People don’t only go to cafes for vibes, but also for good coffee and pastries,” says Pat Felicia, Arts and Beans’ operations manager.

The cafe has a wide selection to choose from, with sizable portion sizes that’ll keep your taste buds on alert, just as it will make you full: a hefty clubhouse sandwich or a rich grilled cheese sandwich, and a refreshing matcha calamansi or sea salt caramel latte on the side.

Human interaction at the heart

But beyond what you would see in any cafes or galleries, Arts and Beans also hosts several activities perfect for groups looking for a fun and relaxing night out, or even for individuals looking to meet others—from book readings and sound bath sessions to tarot readings and trivia nights.

Cute art prints on the wall

“It’s about meeting so many different people here. We do a lot of workshops and events. We’re super open to hobbies like watercolor sessions, knitting, and candle making. And we end up meeting so many different people with the same values we want to share—that is, of sharing love and creativity,” adds Felicia.

Arts and Beans is located on the second floor of Kapitolyo Art Space, #23 West Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig, and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
