Friends in fashion

High school friends Neve Tiotuico, Kian De Rivera, and Christopher Lacsina had a lot of things in common, including one consistent thing: clothes. The three, who enjoy ukay-ukay shopping and traveling from their hometown Angeles City to Metro Manila for events, decided to take their passion for fashion a step further.

“We started to fall in love with the idea of creating a brand for ourselves,” Tiotuico told Lifestyle.

They launched MayWe in February. “This has been brewing for months, even years. We decided to push through with it because we’re all at a point in time where our creativity and energy are at an all-time high.”

MayWe takes its inspiration from vintage Japanese and American workwear and military wear. “We take bits and pieces from the garments we gravitate toward. Then we add little touches of flair—whether it’s the colors or the fit of the piece.”

The result is a collection of classic and timeless pieces with a dose of fun, that reflect their personalities, and that are proudly made in Angeles City.

All their pieces have been popular but there’s one that’s been a standout—the maroon byahero polo has been selling so well they’ve had to restock it twice.

But don’t ask them to pick favorites. “Everything we make is a favorite. That’s how it should be.”
