BI arrests Chinese man posing as Filipino
Immigration authorities have arrested a Chinese allegedly posing as a Filipino citizen in Palawan and a Nigerian accused of overstaying in the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Wednesday.
It identified the Chinese as Xu Haishen, 39, who was apprehended in Roxas, Palawan, on May 12 during an operation involving immigration agents, police, and intelligence units.
The BI said Xu allegedly misrepresented himself as a Filipino citizen and was considered a threat to public interest and national security.
Authorities said Xu admitted during the operation that he was using another identity.
In a separate operation a day earlier in Cauayan City, Isabela, immigration agents arrested 38-year-old Nigerian Joshua Esosa Osarhiemen for allegedly violating the conditions of his stay and overstaying in the Philippines, according to the BI.
Both foreigners were brought to the BI Warden Facility pending deportation proceedings.
