BI catches 10 illegal aliens in Siargao

Zacarian Sarao

Ten foreigners have been apprehended on Siargao Island for violating immigration laws, including overstaying and working without proper documents.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Monday that the 10 were arrested in a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted on June 26, following reports from residents and business owners. They included Israeli nationals Ben Yeshaya Menahem Mendel Rafael and Aharon Ida, both 22 years old, who were found overstaying and working without the appropriate visas and permits.

Two other Israelis, 23-year-old Abeve Abeve Tewabe and 51-year old Etay Harari, were also arrested for working without proper documents.

Moroccan national Larbi Oirdi, 23, on the other hand, was declared an undesirable alien in connection with his previous arrest for unjust vexation, direct assault, serious resistance and disobedience, among other offenses.
