Comelec eyes more special registration sites

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) hopes to implement its Special Register Anywhere Program (SRAP) nationwide during the next registration period for voters. “We will launch the SRAP nationwide. We will bring it even to Marawi City and Iligan City.

We will also hold it in highly-urbanized and component cities because it is necessary,” Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia said on Thursday.

He was at the main office of the Department of Budget and Management in Manila where the poll body had set up a satellite voter’s registration center in connection with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in December.

Voters can register up to Aug. 10 but should the BSKE be postponed to next year, another registration period will be held from October this year up to July 2026, Garcia earlier said.
