Navy probes death of 2 divers in Sarangani

The Philippine Navy (PN) is investigating the death of two of its divers who went on a recreational drive in Sarangani province on Aug. 4.
“As safety remains a top priority, the PN is also reviewing and enhancing our protocols related to both recreational and operational diving activities to prevent similar incidents in the future,” it said in a statement.
Based on initial reports, the two victims were on official leave when they went on a recreational dive in the waters off Barangay Mindupok in Maitum, Sarangani.
They were reported missing for over an hour before they were found floating and unconscious.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and assure them of our full support during this difficult time,” the PN said.
“Above all, we recognize and honor the service and dedication of our fallen sailors to the country and the Filipino people,” it added.
