PNP hunts down Sarah Discaya’s 9 coaccused

The Philippine National Police called on all coaccused of contractor Sarah Discaya to surrender, after the National Bureau of Investigation arrested Discaya in connection with a P96.5-million flood control project in Davao Occidental.

Discaya was already in the custody of the NBI after she surrendered on Dec. 9, the same day President Marcos first announced warrants of arrest against her and nine coaccused.

They face malversation charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman over the P96.5-million flood control project in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, which was fully paid for but never built.

NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari earlier said Discaya was detained at the NBI’s custodial facility within the compound of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in Muntinlupa City.

“She’s already been arrested and is now on the way to the NBI Detention Facility in BuCor,” Mallari told Inquirer through a Viber message.

PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. also urged Discaya’s coaccused to simply surrender as the police mounted a manhunt against them.

“The Philippine National Police calls on all the coaccused of controversial contractor Sarah Discaya to surrender and spare themselves the risks of playing hide-and-seek with law enforcement agencies,” the PNP acting chief said.
