PNP to tighten security near schools after stabbing
June 18, 2026
Police visibility will be stepped up around schools after a Grade 8 student stabbed seven Grade 5 students in a private school in General Trias, Cavite, on Tuesday.
The 14-year-old suspect has been turned over to local social welfare officials for proper medical and psychological evaluation as the victims were treated at a hospital.
“Investigators are still looking into how the weapon passed through the school gates undetected,” Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said on Wednesday.
“Violence inside educational institutions is unacceptable, and we will work closely with school authorities and local government officials to prevent similar incidents from happening again,” he added.
