I don’t think there’s anything wrong with embracing the idea of having a “strong man” as a leader. The real issue lies in who that strong man is. Take Singapore and Lee Kuan Yew, for example.

You are right about the richest countries (high per capita GNP) being less corrupt or most honest, based on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index. But you did not cite the most honest countries (top 10), which include the Scandinavian countries, also have the lowest income inequality.
