Rizal’s very different experience with the Jesuits and later with the Dominicans … the former (in his view) encouraged critical thinking, and self-reflection, probably encouraging pa debates on church practices while the other is stifling.

Most Filipinos argue that they need to go to college to find better jobs. Most of them are not qualified for college, and most jobs that they want don’t require college degrees. But because education is poor, employers want college degrees for jobs that don’t require them.
