The home that moms give

Cleofe Albiso

Mothers are often defined by their selflessness, endless understanding and boundless love. They are personified by their love for their child and the sacrifices they make for the family.

To some, mother is a word that has become synonymous to a tight hug after crying one’s heart out or a warm cup of coffee on a cold morning.

Magical gift

Mom, just the thought of you brings tears to my eyes. The memory of your life gives me strength to endure everything that life throws my way. Knowing I have you to come home to assures me that all will be well—that this, too, shall pass.

You have that magical gift that allows you to understand what I’m going through even if I don’t say a word. You can see through me even if I fake a smile or act like everything is fine. And just as effortlessly, you could sense when I was quietly celebrating, feeling content, or simply at peace.

They say no one can fool a mom. She either calls us out the moment she senses what we’re trying to hide, or she lets us stumble through the lesson, silently pretending not to know just so we can grow. All the while, she stands at the sidelines, watching, waiting, always ready to catch us when we fall.

A home is what our mothers give us. It’s a space we can always call our own, no matter where or when. Like a true home, a mother offers that familiar feeling filled with warmth, love, and genuine care—a place free of judgment, full of acceptance for our uniqueness and imperfections.

Various forms of a loving mom

A mother can come in many forms.

You have the fur-mom to that dear pet dog, the Auntie Mommy to her niece or nephew, the guardian to a child whose mom is away for work, the grandma to her apo, the older sister playing the role of a mama who has passed on in this life, the mom who has to be away from her children just to provide, the mother of an organization creating a familial happy culture at work, the mom to office colleagues who need mentorship or sponsorship, and even the mother role that a hotelier plays to its guests during celebrations not just on hotel stays but on the celebration of life’s key milestones in hotel venues.

Our heart, your home

This is the best part of hospitality. In the industry where I am in, I am blessed to see how our associates are given the chance to take care of our guests during their stay—how our team members try their best to provide the warmth of a second home, how the little acts of care send the message of our happiness to be part of the meaningful experiences of others.

Indeed, in Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, we try to create an experience that has semblance to a Filipino home. Indeed, our heart, your home.

Let’s celebrate and remember each of the moms in our lives today—thank you for the home and the heart you give!
