Ayala Land expands energy-efficiency push

Emmanuel John Abris

Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) is expanding its energy efficiency initiatives across more than 350 properties nationwide as the property giant seeks to curb electricity consumption and advance its long term sustainability goals.

The Zobel-family led property giant joined the Department of Energy (DOE) in launching the ONE. (Oras Natin sa Efficiency) campaign, a nationwide initiative encouraging households, businesses and institutions to reduce power consumption for one hour every week.

For ALI, the campaign comes as the company manages an annual electricity demand of about one million megawatt (MW) hours across its extensive portfolio of malls, offices, residential developments, hotels, logistics facilities and mixed-use estates.

The company said it has been investing in energy-efficient building design, renewable energy adoption and operational improvements to reduce its carbon footprint and improve energy performance.

ALI has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with its targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.

According to the firm, 98 percent of its commercial properties are powered by renewable energy or supported by renewable energy certificates.
